Hello, wonderful people!

My name is Valentina Šeb and Odeata is my life story.

A little about me:

I was born in Zagreb in the spring of 1979, the capital of beautiful Croatia. I grew up in a small town east of Zagreb. Today I live and create in one of the jewels of the Zagreb region, the hilly town of Sv. Ivan Zelina.

In 2002 I discovered the wonders of clay. Somehow it was clear from the start that this would be a lifelong affair.Since then, we have been growing together, getting to know each other, changing and developing.

For years I have been developing my pottery skills, attending a range of courses and taking private tutoring lessons. In 2011 I completed a course taught by artist Mirjana Rajković.

I learned how to use the pottery wheel and how to make raku ware. I mastered various painting and glazing techniques by using a range of styles and transformations. I am still discovering the wonderful possibilities of this art.

It is pure magic when skill and a piece of clay enable a vision of a sculpture or object, conceived in the mind of the artist, to become visible and tangible. Sharing this experience with others is even more magical.

Why Odeata?

I believe that nothing is impossible for those who are determined and brave enough to live their dreams.If we close our eyes and let our dreams lead us, who knows what the final destination will be. Maybe a place that exists only for us.

I once read somewhere that everything we imagine exists. If it didn’t, we wouldn’t be able to imagine it in the first place.

I imagined Odeata.

Odeata is a story about a wonderful journey, love, skill, patience, courage, and a dream come true.A story about every moment that should be lived to the fullest because life is a miracle.Odeata is imprinted into every object that comes out of our workshop.

Where do I find inspiration?

I love the little things in life and give myself to them completely because I know from experience that it is in this way that great things come to pass.

I could talk about it for a long time, but in short:

I am inspired by everyday life. When we spice up the everyday with gratitude, it becomes a blessing brimming with inspiration.

I am inspired by people. I believe that every ordinary person has an extraordinary story.

I am also greatly inspired by nature.

I trust that the time spent in nature takes us to the source of our own selves, cleanses us, and inspires creatively.

I would like to emphasise the importance of angels. I feel the presence of these wonderful creatures and their immense love in everything. I know that angels can be represented in different forms and in different ways. They are always around.

Special gratitude!

On this wonderful journey I am especially grateful to my life partner, my husband Dario, who is responsible for a big part of our business success. He resolves the technical issues in our family workshop, makes sure that everything runs smoothly, and supports each of my ideas and creations.

While I take pleasure in the joys of creating, he takes care of the technical side. He is exceptionally talented and comes up with innovative technical solutions in the process of creating pottery. Together, we push the boundaries of artistic creation.

The result is the story of Odeata, a story of endless possibilities, love, magic, and happiness.

We hope that the objects we create in our workshop will transmit the feeling that we carefully imprint into them. We hope they will make the world a more beautiful place by realising the dreams of their owners, by giving them serenity and the feeling that absolutely everything is possible and achievable.

Our ceramic products can be found in a number of galleries across Croatia and Europe. We are pleased that our work with ceramics and clay has touched and adorned many homes. Who knows – maybe you are the future owner of a product from our collection!
